The JBCC (The Joint Building Contracts Committee) was formalised in 1997 with the registration of a Section 21 Company. Its main aim is to compile contract documentation with an equitable distribution of contractual risk in the building industry. The suite is approved by the CIDB (The Construction Industry Development Board) and has been selected for use by national and provincial state sectors.
It is likely that spending on Government building and construction work is set to increase substantially and this will auger well for the widespread use of JBCC documentation.
